Biography
Rory is an energy-focused trial and appellate litigator. His practice focuses on oil & gas, pipelines, public utilities, real estate, and eminent domain. His diverse experience also includes class and mass actions, commercial disputes, personal injuries, defamation, and intellectual property. He represents clients in all phases of litigation, from before a lawsuit is filed through trial and appeal. Rory prides himself on thinking creatively. If litigation is necessary, he is known as a vigorous and professional advocate for his clients. A former appellate clerk, Rory is also often brought in to handle major motions and appeals. Rory graduated with honors from UT Law, where he interned with a federal trial judge and joined UT’s elite U.S. Supreme Court Clinic. After law school he clerked for a Houston-area appellate judge. Prior to joining Hicks Davis Wynn, he spent ten years practicing litigation in two well-regarded national and international firms. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in the Energy Law category for six years in a row. In 2025 he was invited to become a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, an honor extended to only 0.33% of Texas attorneys each year. He is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts, the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, the Fifth and Tenth Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
