Biography

Mary Borrego brings a wealth of legal expertise and industry insight to her diverse practice. Specializing in complex litigation, she navigates cases across commercial, product liability, personal injury, real estate, and construction law. With clients spanning various industries—oil and gas, transportation, utilities, and manufacturing, Mary excels in state, federal, and arbitration forums.

Mary’s journey into law was preceded by extensive experience as a landman and senior paralegal, where she developed a pragmatic, client-focused approach to litigation. Her practical and meticulous mindset has led to numerous victories in trials, mediation, and appeals, and cemented her reputation as a dedicated advocate.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of an international chemical processing company in premises liability suit.
  • Obtained summary judgments on behalf of the largest water heater manufacturer in North America in actions involving product liability and breach of warranty claims.
  • Represented large Houston-based electric power and natural gas transmission and distribution provider in injunction and enforcement actions to preserve and protect property and easement rights.
  • Represented common carriers and pipeline companies in actions to preserve and protect client’s property and easement rights.
  • Obtained favorable jury verdict on behalf of a Texas limited partnership and its general partner in an action involving breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty claims. 
  • Obtained favorable ruling on appeal for Houston-based orthopedic surgery practice group involving claims under the Texas Citizens Participation Act. Stone v. Melillo, No. 14-18-00971-CV, 2020 WL 6143126 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] Oct. 20, 2020, no pet.).
  • Obtained favorable appellate ruling concerning a writ of mandamus of trial court’s order granting pre-suit discovery. In re D & L Oil & Gas LLC, No. 14-21-00724-CV, 2022 WL 3093211 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] Aug. 4, 2022, no pet.).
  • Obtained favorable ruling on appeal involving jurisdictional issues in suit arising alleged fraud in a real estate transaction. Cushman & Wakefield U.S., Inc. v. Sharestates Investments, LLC, No. 14-22-00155-CV, 2023 WL 4782756 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] June 27, 2023, no pet.).
